I’m not a big fan of infomercials because, for the most part, they say some crazy things that just make me swing between laughing out loud and rolling my eyes. Don’t get me wrong. I’m all about the small business person selling their products and services to people who need and want them. What I don’t like are the outrageous claims and subtle insults that many of these shows shout at me from the screen.
Since I stay up late, I have seen my share of infomercials while working on my internet projects. I’ve seen the commercials for Mighty Tape but didn’t think anything of it until I was on Amazon.com and came across the Silicon Fix It Tape. I was already buying some books from Amazon, I figured I might as well throw it in the cart and give it try since having stuff on hand to repair other stuff that I break is a good idea.
I didn’t think I would have any use for it when I first got it but then I set up my DVD player and Playstation gaming system to the television. I have a surround sound system, there are tons of wires involved. I used to use rubber bands to keep everything from getting tangled but this time I decided to use the Silicone Fix It Tape.
It was really easy to use. It’s not a true adhesive like regular tape. You have to wrap it around itself in order for it to stick but I really like that I got three different colors. I’m able to distinguish which wires go where at a glance which was really helpful when I moved my television set. And the fact that it is not a true adhesive like tape means that I was able to unwrap and reuse it as I needed unlike Duct tape.
According to the website, Silicone Fix It Tape can be used for a variety of other things like repairing a hole in a garden hose, leaky pipes, and even car repairs. I haven’t had many problems in my apartment so I haven’t had an opportunity to use it for any true repairs. But I did wrap it around the handle of my hammer like they have in the picture on the site. I have to say, it does make it easier to grip.
All in all, my experience with the Silicone Fix It Tape has been positive. The price was good too. It was $22 on Amazon but you can buy it directly from Silicone Fix It Tape website for $19.95. You get six rolls. Mighty Fix It Tape charges about $15 for three rolls so I really did save a chunk of change by getting the Silicone Fix It product.
