It is estimated that over 100 billion human beings have existed in the world since people came to be. Considering that every person is like a snowflake, with no two alike, there are a lot of unique individuals running around in the world. As a writer, I do a lot of research online and always come across one or two interesting biographies a day in my internet travels. The most recent one I’ve stumbled across is for Harley Swiftdeer.

Harley Swiftdeer is the founder of the Deer Tribe Metis Medicine Society which he started in 1986. The purpose of the society is to help others grow mentally, emotionally and spiritually. They offer lectures, workshops, classes and publications that provide people with information to help them improve their health and wellbeing.

In addition to having a love of helping others, Harley Swiftdeer also has an intense interest in martial arts. For over fifty years, he has been learning and teaching various martial arts systems such as Jiu Jitsu, Judo and Karate. He is currently certified through the International Society of Sokeship Council, the WMAHF Certification Branch of the International Society of Black Belt Examiners and the Ten-No-Kishi Dojos in Osaka.

As individuals we are all very different but it is this variety that makes the human race so awesome.

Like most immigrants, Amos Tamam came to the United States looking for a fresh start. What he found, when he arrived in New York City, was a place of unlimited opportunities that allowed a person to begin with absolutely nothing and, through sheer determination, work his way up to the CEO position of a multimillion dollar corporation.

Amos Tamam began life in America as an electrical engineer fixing taxi cabs. Soon, however, he was working on taxi meters and helping fleet management improve internal processes and fuel efficiency. Always one to take advantage of the opportunities afforded to him, in 1992 he worked with a development team and created the first taxi meter that was able to accept credit card payments.

Today Amos Tamam is living the American dream as the CEO of Verifone Transportation Systems, Inc. Because of his dedication to improving the lives of taxi drivers, taxi companies were able to increase their profit margin simply by affording customers the convenience of paying with a credit card.
