These days everyone is trying to squeeze in 48 hours worth of activity in half as much time. While the jury is still out on whether multitasking actually saves time, outsourcing has always been a great way to add time to the clock. Something as simple as hiring a company to clean your home can help you reclaim your time. Here are a few tips for hiring a maid service Reston, VA company.

It is important that the company is bonded and insured. Bonding protects you in case of theft from your home or business. Additionally, people must pass a background check to be bonded, so you are less likely to experience a problem with theft with a company that bonds its employees. Insurance protects you if something gets damaged or the maids hurt themselves in your home.

If being environmentally friendly is important to you, then ask the company if it uses eco-friendly cleaning products and how effective the products are at killing harmful germs and bacteria like E.coli and salmonella. Sometimes it’s a delicate balance between protecting the environment and protecting your health. Make sure you are comfortable with the type of cleaning products that will be used in your home.

Lastly, ask the company for references and check them. Ask the reference about the quality of the service, how the company handled complaints, and whether he or she would recommend the maid service provider. The answers to these questions can help you make an informed decision.

Prefab, or prefabricated, homes are built in a factory. The separate parts of the home are cut according to a template and assembled on the factory floor. The home is then transported to the land site where it is attached to the foundation.

Prefab homes have been around since the turn of the 19th century. Back then they were called House Kits. Homeowners were sent all the pieces of their home including tools, nails and a book which showed them how to assemble it. During that time period, however, most people possessed a good set of carpentry skills and had no trouble assembling their home. Today almost all prefab homes are put together by a contractor.

Because they are created in a factory, prefab homes tend to be cheaper than traditionally built homes. Factories are able to order materials in bulk whereas higher costs prevent home builders from doing the same with individual homes. Since the materials are cut and made according to a template, no skilled labor is needed in the factory which further drives the cost down. On average, homeowners pay 10-25% less on their prefab homes than people who purchase traditional homes.

But the savings don’t stop there. Almost all prefab homes are energy efficient which means you’ll save money on your utility bills. The bulk of the home is assembled in the factory. Therefore, when they get to the site, the home can be erected quickly and easily which translates into lower construction costs.

Like site built homes, prefab homes don’t have fixed prices which leave plenty of room for negotiation. The majority of your costs will center on acquiring the land for your home. It pays to work with a knowledgeable real estate agent who can help you find the best deal on property. The second major cost will be your mortgage but, again, do your research and compare mortgage rates. Take your loan out with the bank that offers you the best interest rate.

Since their inception, prefab homes have acquired a bad reputation for being low quality homes. Part of this is because there are actually two kinds of prefab homes, manufactured and modular. Manufactured homes are houses that are built on a steel chassis which is then used to transport the entire house to its final destination. These homes are on the lower end of the quality scale.

Modular homes are houses that are built in parts, or modules, at the factory and then assembled on site. These are at the higher end of the quality scale. Whereas manufactured homes come in a limited number of styles modular homes come in thousands of designs including multiple stories. These homes are of such high quality that even wealthy people are purchasing prefab homes second and vacation homes.

Prefab homes make great starter or vacation homes. They are easy to set up, cost less and are of the same quality as a traditional home. If you are in the market for a house, then a prefab home should be on your list of considerations.

One of the things I’ve always wanted to do is buy an old house and renovate it. There is just something appealing about the idea of taking an old, beat up house and transforming it into a warm, beautiful place to live. Maybe it’s because I believe in second chances; that even something as innocuous as a dilapidated house deserves a second time around the block. Whenever I do get around to trying my hand at house flipping, I want to have a pool installed. If I happen to pick a house in Arizona, then I plan to check out Shasta Pools.

Looking at their website, Shasta Pools seems to offer an assortment of pool styles from your basic rectangle to a more elaborate and designer shape. Since I love stuff that is unique, I would definitely want something that had some style and character to it. Yeah, rectangular pools are nice if you like to swim laps but come on. For parties and other entertainment opportunities, a tear dropped shaped pool or one with a cascading water fall would be much more impressive.

Shasta Pools also design spas which I think is great. I think having one would increase the value of the home. Who wouldn’t want to come home after a long day and let the hot water of the spa melt away stress? Add a glass of wine and maybe a special friend and you’ve got the perfect recipe for relaxation.

So, I’m going to start looking at the real estate market and see what’s out there. In this volatile economy, I’m pretty sure I can get a great deal on a worthwhile project that could end up being a source of monthly rental income.
