Last month I did an article on Alex Crisses who had served as the director of fundraising and was an executive committee member of an organization called Minds Matter. I’m always interested in what people are doing to better themselves, so I decided to do a little research into the non-profit organization.

Minds Matter was started in 1991 by six Wall Street professionals who spent time mentoring low income but high achieving high school students in New York. Their goal was to support students who have the drive and the smarts to go to college but who also lack the funding necessary to make that dream a reality. Since then, they have grown exponentially with Chapters sprouting up all across the United States.

I can see why Alex Crisses wanted to be a part of this organization. Young people are the future. However, many are deprived of the opportunity to be an integral part of that future because they lack the funds necessary to move forward in their goals. How many future business owners, doctors, presidents, or astronauts will be forced to work thankless menial jobs because they could not afford to go to a good college?

Alex Crisses main duty was to raise funds for the organization because programs like this always have a need for money to keep the doors open. If you are feeling particularly generous or simply want to help a young person out, consider donating to the Minds Matter organization. You’ll help a young person take the next step and you’ll feel great about contributing to the next generation of leaders.
